I have a Nightmare!

What if there were six
 present-day reincarnations of MLKjr,
each pushing a pressing issue that requires
strong support from almost all progressives
under our current system to get CHANGE.
What if we got caught between the six?
What would we do?
Fail in all six?

I think the answer would be that we need to
focus on changing our current system so that
we don't need to agree
on what is most pressing
to get CHANGE.
We need to make it easier for
a small, but committed, group of people,
pushing an issue with broad appeal,
to prevail.

I believe that Electoral Reform,
focused on American Forms of PR and IRV,
is the issue that will avert my nightmare.
This is because it handicaps the rivalry between the two major parties, checks $peech naturally with more competitive elections, and spreads out widely
who will be the likely swing-voters.
These three effects combine to make it
much easier for a wide number of smaller, poorer groups to play the powers that be in the two major parties off of each other to move the center,
without having to coordinate or
to follow the same charismatic leader.
